UPDATE: What were they thinking?! With this latest major update, they did let me upgrade to my prior Pro Version at no additional cost. But this didnt make any difference anyway. Its essentially worthless. It wouldnt let me use a photo of my paper and pencil draft (or any other photo) to use as my base layer. So I decided to do my sketch from start to finish on the the app. After experiencing some pretty strange things along the way, I finally got my sketch down. I was almost finished with the watercolor and was just finishing up a shadow. When I un-zoomed to see how my "finished" drawing looked. All of the multiple watercolors I had completed, smudging, delicate erasing and all, had all disappeared. I was left with my line sketch and the shadow. I was not going to try to recreate the artwork I had already completed on Tayasui. Not for this sketch and not for any other one. Too bad; it had been my favorite drawing app. ----------------------------------------------- Ive tried about 5 of the most recommended apps for drawing, painting, and other creative art and Sketches is by far the closest thing to doing "regular" art--even better than the highly marketed Paper by 53. Plus you get a nice amount of great user-friendly digital tools. I use Wacoms stylus with Sketches. It also connects with 2 other major stylus brands. (Not with Pencil by 53 though. By the way, I have nothing against that company, but I tried Pencil also and it doesnt give you nearly as much control over your work as Wacom. I do like Papers Mix format A LOT. So there goes.)

I love this app and it has all my sketches but in this update whenever i go to book selection screen the app crashes and exits. Please fix because i still have same problem with this new version!!

Im not sure if its just me, but The eraser tool has been glitching out, and its too big now! I dont have the pro tools but,before the update I could move the eraser slowly and erase small details, and move quickly to erase bigger parts. But now (when its not glitching out) its only one size and has rough edges! I love this app, and most of the changes have improved it, but the eraser thing needs to be fixed!

Its a really good app. The best one I have used so far. However, it crashes a lot and many drawings are not saved.

My dogs love to watch me paint with it. They cant wait until I let them try too (but not until they stop chewing my shoes!).

This is a great app, i really love it. i have to have like twenty pictures ive done in the last week. the smear tool is my favorite, its perfect for fur and hair and shading. buying the full version is worth it. i was rather dismayed however when i saw that you can only have four layers. it would be so great if you could add an option where you can scroll through more than the four that fit on the screen. Also, in place of a size option on the smudge tool is a length, or strength instead. for finer works it would be nice to have both.

I was really bummed out from this app because you have to buy all the cool effects. And the video is such a lie I couldnt do that if I wanted to. Anyway thats my review, you guys may think otherwise but I dont.

I love sketches.... But its missing some key things. Like making it EASY to pull images from Dropbox, g drive, emails, whatever. The backgrounds are limiting. The exporting is clunky. And for me, on my iPad, the app continually crashes whenever I get into anything complex. Hopefully they can iron out these issues. Love the concept and the way it feels to use it.

I love this app, thnx. The designer was very promp in answering a question I couldnt seem to figure out for myself, same day (Saturday) response. Thnx again, keep up the good work.

my Paper replacement. minimalist sketching should have minimal and intuitive features. this one does.

I absolutely hate this app. Its difficult to use, undoes things at the wrong time, and is not all it says it is. Never EVER would recommend it!

if some of you are complaining about how you cant use everything they have, that you have to buy it, well if you look it says that it offers in app purchases so it means that not everything is free, srry I just had to get that out there

The eraser tool is glitched so that it wont erase properly

If you are tired of the billion features of other sketching apps, this one takes away almost all the right ones. The brushes rock, and the interface is pretty user friendly. The things that are missing are more layers, more undos, and editable canvas sizes. Also, more ruler types would help. Overall though, this app rocks, try it out and buy the extra tools--it will help the devs make this even more awesome.

I love this app! Paired with my Wacom stylus, drawing feels so natural. The only thing missing is full palm rejection. The canvas moves around whenever I wanna rest my hand and draw.

This app requires a learning curve, but as a metalsmith, I think its well worth it. Its one of the best Ive found. I can sketch, I can adjust, I can print, and go. I can take picture of my work, download it and then make notations for changes. When I put a project down for a bit, I open Sketches 2, and there it is.

I had hoped for this to be the sketch app without too much tool tweaking hoopla … no manuals to download and pour through just to understand how to begin. But after buying the full version Im sadly dismayed. Except for a couple of tools the disappointing lag time in most tools makes it impossible to even use them
