Tayasui Sketches App Reviews

I have tried many different drawing and paint apps, and for me the tools in this app really feel right to me for the way I like to work. There is a natural and look to them, so much so that when I posted a drawing to my Instagram account one of the comments was that they did not realize it was made on an iPad. For this reason alone, I dont mind there being only four layers. In fact sometimes I end up merging layers because I enjoy the process of mixing things together. The only real problem I have that prevents me from taking this app seriously (and yes, I realize that it is maybe aimed at casual users) is the inability to set a custom canvas and resolution size. If I make something that I want to print out I am limited to exporting a JPEG compressed file that looks hideous if I load it into Photoshop and increase to resolution to something that I can print. I know (and own) Procreate, but the tools require many adjustments to get what I want. A lesser gripe is the somewhat shoddy support for Pencil 53. But I really cant complain too much because it actually works better for me in Sketch 2 than it does in the Pencil app. I will soon own an Apple Pencil, so hopefully Sketch 2 support for it will be better. Due to the quality of the tools, Sketches 2 has my vote (and money) so I hope that a high res option is in the future so I can call it my #1 paint app on the iPad.

Super cool but you should have access to all the tools without paying

I love drawing and sketching and I thought this would be a perfect app but as soon as I got it on my iPod you have to pay for the brushes and on iPad you dont have to! Like what? On my Ipad the patterns and different brushes are free but on my iPod and iPhone I have to pay for it. Whaaaaaaat?

Ive used this app for about 2 years now, and I love it. I think I paid a couple of dollars for it, but it was totally worth it. Have recommended it to other people, and I will continue to recommend it.

Fun, easy and keeps me entertained for hours

Reminds me of the graffiti app on facebook.

Great little drawing app to doodle when you are bored.

My best canvas, helps me to work without fear. Especially with manga.

good idea in theory, but it isnt as well designed or implemented as the other drawing app by this developer (memopad). the tools take up way too much real estate on the screen and the brush size/opacity picker is not self-explanatory at all. the individual brushes arent very distinct, and many of them just dont produce a nice result on the canvas. I feel pretty ripped off about buying both iaps. paper by 53 is a better app for the same purpose. the only edge this app has is layers (for $2.50 cdn...). I just use the memopad app for quick sketches and notes, and I love it a lot.

Love it, but brush freezes (iPad mini2 with glass protector screen) mid stroke.

Still a good and fun app, but for some reason my pen adonit jot touch stopped working as it once did. The pen connects and interacts with the menus but only draws when I turn on "use finger as tool without pressure". So the pen and my finger do the same thing.

Whats the point if you cant save your drawings

I use to love this app. But I cant open it anymore. Keeps crashing. Fix it please

Very few basic options are free. Not worth the space on your iPad

The only thing I do not like is, you can not rest your hand on screen without it make marks like painting with your fingers. Maybe an update can rectify this problem John Danty
